An oval crown rises around the place where her center stone will sit, and the diamonds run marquise and round instead of a straight, even row, so the light breaks differently than it would on something plainer. You choose her stone later, and you won't get there by spec sheet any more than you got an answer at the gallery. You'll just know, the way she does.

This is a setting, not a finished ring: a 14-karat white gold mounting with an oval diamond crown head built to hold a center stone of about 1 carat, chosen and set separately. The crown and shank carry 16 round and marquise diamonds, G/H color, VS1 clarity, 0.32 ct total weight, and 26 round diamonds, G/H color, VS1 clarity, 0.09 ct total weight.
